-240°C to +288°C

PTFE has found numerous uses in oilfield and chemcial applications, as it is the most chemical resistant thermoplastic available. It offers low friction and sealability not found with most plastic materials, however it is subject to cold flow or creep. Adding fillers such as glass, moly, carbon and bronze can reduce this creep. PTFE is used for valve seats, stem packing, pump packing, downhole tools, bearing rings and spacer rings.

-50°C to +105°C

An excellent material with high abrasion resistance characteristics and high tensile strength. Used in high-pressure hydraulic systems where highly stressed parts are subject to wear. It has also found use in drilling jars and shock tools for both seal and wiper applications.

Up to +260°C

Torlon is the highest performing, melting processable plastic. It offers superior resistance to elevated temperatures. It is capable of performing under severe conditions at continuous temperatures to +260°C (+500°F). It has minimal expansion rate, has excellent wear and is able to endure harsh thermal, chemical and stress conditions.

-270°C to+105°C

UHMWPE offers good impact resistance, excellent abrasion resistance, a low coefficient of friction, very low moisture absorption and excellent chemical and corrosion resistance. Commonly used as wear rings, valve seats and in high speed sealing applications.

-60°C to +290°C

PEEK has excellent tensile strength and elongation characteristics making it a good choice for high temperature and high-pressure applications. It is also inert to many chemicals. Due to its hardness, it is commonly used for anti-extrusion purposes and valve seat applications. It has been used in numerous places in downhole tools and in oilfied compressors.

-70°C to +130°C

Nylon is a durable and inexpensive material. Its properties include high impact resistance and tensile strength. Commonly used as wear rings, bushing and anti-extrusion devices. Nylon comes in many different grades and fills depending on the application.

Polyaramid is a fiber, which offers very high tensile strength and wear capability. It is used for braided packing in pumps and valves, and has also found uses for reinforcing elastomeric vee packing rings for downhole tools. Torlon is the trademark of Solvay. -40°C to +135°C
-50°C to +120°C (Low Temp)

Presently the seal industry's most widely used elastomer. Nitrile combines excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels, silicone grease, hydraulic fluids, water and alcohol. It has a good balance of working properties such as low compression set, high tensile strength, and high abrasion resistance, combined with a low cost.

0°C to +240°C

Aflas is a unique fluoroelastomer, a copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene. It has shown excellent resistance to petroleum oils, steam, hydrogen sulfide and amine corrosion inhibitors. It has shown excellent heat and chemical resistance. Due to its resistance to sour gas and steam it has found numerous applications in the oilfield industry for chemical injection pumps, downhole packer elements and numerous other sealing applications.

-15°C to +350°C

With the broadest chemical resistance of any elastomeric material, it combines the resilience and sealing force of an elastomer with chemical resistance approaching that of PTFE. We offer FFKM in Geothermal and AED grades.

-56°C to +204°C

Fluorosilicone combines the excellent high and low temperature properties of silicone, but has a much better resistance to a wider variety of fluids. Fluorosilicones are commonly used in aircraft fuel systems.

-40°C to +160°C

A nitrile compound with excellent resistance to petroleum oils and sour gas. HSN has excellent wear, low compression set and good chemical resistance while maintaining a good temperature range. HSN is becoming a more preferred compound in the oilfield industry.

-30°C to +204°C
-50°C to +204°C (Low Temp)

Featuring excellent resistance to petroleum products and solvents, with good high temperature and low compression set characteristics. For use with wide chemical exposure situations, and low gas permeability.

-65°C to +260°C

Silicone possess an excellent resistance to temperature extremes. Most commonly used in static applications due to its poor tear and abrasion resistance.

-40°C to +135°C

Neoprene has the unique combination of resistance to weathering as well as resistance to petroleum lubricants within its temperature capabilities. It also has good resistance to flexing and tear. It has limited service in oilfield and chemical applications due to lack of chemical and thermal resistance.

-54°C to +150°C

Ethylene propylene has excellent ozone and chemical resistance characteristics. Although it is resistant to hydrogen sulfide it is not compatible with hydrocarbons and therefore has seen limited applications in the oilfield. It is also excellent for steam applications.
